“One of the most common questions I get from breast cancer patients who have undergone a full or partial mastectomy and are now going through reconstruction is will my new breasts feel numb and can I have normal sensation restored”
Here at The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction, we focus on creating a new breast for you that looks and feels like your old breast did. We do this by doing a complete reconstruction that includes sensory nerve reconstruction. This is called “re-sensation.” During a mastectomy, the nerves that give the breasts feeling are removed. If the sensory nerves are not reconstructed then the reconstructed breast will remain numb. To perform ReSensation, we do a complete breast reconstruction by building up your breast using fatty tissue from your belly, buttocks or upper thighs, but also reconnecting the sensory nerves that have been removed.
Ask us any questions about ReSensation -- we’re happy to answer them.
